Biography

I’ve always been interested in two main areas of life: travel and comedy. Naturally, I found a way to write about both.

Travel Writing

I was born near London in 1985: the right place at the right time to benefit from the low-cost European airline boom. At the age of sixteen I strapped on a backpack, printed my first e-ticket and flew off to discover the myriad charms of continental Europe. It was the beginning of a lifelong travel passion which has, to date, encompassed 60 countries.

In May 2010, I decided to try my hand as a full-time travel writer. Over the last three years, I’ve written for a plethora of international travel publications, including National Geographic, The Telegraph and Private Air Magazine, as well as travel guides such as Forbes Travel Guide and GuidePal. I have carved my niche within luxury and adventure travel.

I currently split my time between three magnificent European capitals – London (UK), Prague (Czech Republic) and Vaduz (Liechtenstein) – but I write about a wide variety of destinations around the world; from Amman to Zhengzhou.

As well as being a prolific travel writer, I am also the editor-in-chief of the expert travel writing service WorldWORDS.

Comedy Writing

At a tender age I developed an unhealthy obsession with British sitcom, from contemporary 1990s/2000s offerings like Father Ted, The Office and Nathan Barley to old classics like Hancock’s Half Hour and Blackadder. Inevitably, I decided to study Scriptwriting for Film and Television at Bournemouth Uni… and wrote my thesis on British sitcom.

Since graduation, I have progressed into writing comedy for (half) a living. In the last few years, alongside my travel writing, I have built up a comedy writing portfolio that comprises everything from satirical sketches for BBC Radio 4 Extra to feature-length films for HBO Australia. I’ve also – alongside my comedy writing chum Will – created, written, recorded and promoted comedy sketch show The Chop House. This has been featured on Kooba and NTS Radio.

As well as producing comedy scripts for radio, film and theatre – my first commission was a rom-com play – I have expanded my experience with some satirical articles, a few funny wedding speeches and the odd witty audio guide.
